Best Gaming PCs – Configuration Resources

Does your computer have the hardware to play fast-paced games that utilize detailed graphics to help you overcome the strategic scenarios you encounter? If so, you’ll probably be enjoying intricate scenes, resonate sound effects, and quite PC operation. On the other hand, if your PC is lacking certain components, you could be playing with a handicap. That is why it is important to have a PC that is fully equipped with advanced parts, especially if you intend on configuring or purchasing one of the best gaming PCs on the market today.

If you want to benefit from a gaming PC with serious game play, then this guide will help you understand how the best gaming PCs operate. To start, just follow these easy instructions and you will be able to build your very own system. The source of power these rigs harness begins with four key components. This configuration process initiates with the motherboard, processor, video card(s), and primary memory. Upon further inspection, other significant parts include the the chassis, power supply, cooling system, secondary storage drives, and optical drives. Here we will focus on the four most significant components that help produce the best graphics and overall system operation.

The motherboard has the most value in your system. It must employ technologies to handle multiple video cards, an extremely fast processor, and an abundant amount of advanced primary memory. Also, the chipset holds a high place of stature, which delegates communications to certain hardware components throughout your system. How does this factor into the best gaming PCs? Easy, for the motherboard, ensure the system that you select can handle the components mentioned above. If you wish to find more information about the included parts, visit our link at the bottom of the article.

Next up would be the processor. In the best gaming PCs, the processor consist of multiple cores, which from a more basic perspective, is like having 2 – 4 processors housed under one chip. These chips also use their own dedicated source of memory for quicker processing. Specifically termed the “L2,” cache, will usually have a high amount of virtual space to work with. Incorporate one of Intel’s or AMD’s performance based CPUs, and you’ll be on the tract to purchasing one of the many aspects that the best gaming PCs use.

Now onto the part that brings your games to life. The video card. For the best gaming PCs, there are usually 2, 3 or 4 video cards running in tandem. These expansion cards use advance features such as, fast GPU’s, personal memory deposits, and efficient data transfer speeds which produce exceptional graphics. However, it is not necessary to use this many cards because majority of games run stable and without interruption as long as these components are matched and configured properly with a system of performance based parts.

Lastly, the best gaming PCs use a large amount of RAM to ensure the CPU has data to access in a quick and effective manner. To benefit the best gaming PCs, memory modules should be bought separately, to take advantage of duel and triple channel memory options. This allows the RAM to run simultaneously, which greatly effects processor operation. Consider a higher frequency for the circuits because the will perform faster and this can improve function in real time when playing PC games.

In conclusion, the best gaming PCs only operate accordingly when your entire system is equipped with sufficient parts, that are configured properly, and maintained on an average basis. You can’t expect to buy a fast processor and purchase the minimal amount of memory supported by your motherboard, which will create a bottle neck in your system.

A Practical Approach to Selecting the Best Gaming Motherboard

When it comes to configuring your own gaming computer, most people emphasize on how you need fast video cards, an efficient processor, or extremely responsive memory modules. In order for these components to utilize all their core features, the motherboard they are situated with must be able to handle all these specifications accordingly. With that, all three of those components are actually directly connected to the motherboard and believe it or not, the system board is one of the least appreciated parts! Who would have thought?! Though we can’t give all the credit to just a single components actions, as a gaming PC consists of multiple hardware parts working in an effective manner. To help you select one of the best gaming motherboards, we have compiled a few key specifications to help you decide on a candidate that meets your needs.

You should always begin this process by choosing a compatible processor. It seems somewhat odd, but the motherboard is where the processor is stationed. The reason this formal spec. is so crucial relates to the CPU socket located on the motherboard, which by default is the best way to selecting a suitable logic board. Let me give you an example. Say you have an Intel Core i7 processor and a motherboard with a 775 socket. This will not work because this particular socket was built for Intel Core 2 Duo and Quad Core gaming processors. A Core i7 processor must use an LGA 1156 (Socket H) or LGA 1366 (Socket B) socket.

Which brings us to another detail that is extremely important not to overlook. The type of processor you choose limits you to the motherboards you can purchase. There are two major processor manufacturers you have to choose from. Either Intel or AMD. Both use different sockets to house their processors, including the paired chipset that the processor was implemented to interact with. Just ensure that you check this specification before you make a purchase. If you have any questions, you can refer to the OEM or re-seller of that product.

Another important aspect that motherboards determine are the memory modules. Gaming computers require a large amount of RAM to help process data as quickly as possible. This can be figured by the amount of slots a gaming motherboard is equipped with, including each slots capacity and overall maximum capacity. This will also help you establish the type, speed (frequency), and an appropriate bandwidth, specifically relating to the operating frequency of the FSB. There are nice combinations for motherboards and memory modules featured on various sites across the web, its just a matter of deciding which set is right for you, thats if you go with this option, though we do recommend purchasing each component individually.

You may think that the video cards are the most relevant to this selection process, but they actually don’t require you to select a specific card, unless you are considering multiple video cards. If you are going to install more than one video card, then you need to check the compatibility of that specific card and if it is SLI (Nvidia chipset) or CrossFire (AMD chipset) ready. These two technologies allow motherboards to recognize any additional graphic cards, which allows them to operate simultaneously. This is especially important for gaming computers, as vivid graphic quality is a tendency for these systems.

Your games obviously need a place to be stored and accessed as well, especially in fast paced environments. Gaming computers usually have a fast hard drive equipped, which requires that the disk controller on the motherboard complies with the SATA 2.0 standard at least, seeing how SATA 3.0 was recently introduced into the market. Majority of gaming motherboards and associated devices support the 2.0 standard, which is what we suggest you purchase regarding this specification. If you are considering a RAID setup, ensure that there are enough SATA interface connectors located on the motherboard.

Just to note, there is one more type of storage drive that is drawing considerable attention. Solid State drives are newer storage devices using a flash based memory, replacing any moving mechanisms that existed in previous devices, hard drives being a perfect example. The price is higher for these drives, but well worth it. If you can supply a gaming computer with this type of storage drive, then your system will load any form of program with ease, especially 3D games.

A few other important qualities not to bypass would be any additional peripherals, including 5+ USBs, 1-2 Firewire, built-in LAN connector, display ports, etc. Plus, since gaming computers typically need every last bit of performance, overclocking your processor should be taken seriously, in some instances. This can be done by manipulating the system BIOs, usually most gaming motherboards allow this behavior, in which changing the CPUs current voltage and adjusting the system bus to a faster operating frequency is a common practice.

When it comes to integrated components, do not waste your time with on-board video and sound controllers, as purchasing separate video cards and a sound card will provide your gaming computer with more clarity and enjoyment when encountering various scenes throughout the games you experience.

Well we are ending this short article after summarizing a few major details pertaining to qualities based off of the best gaming motherboards, though you can find more details about gaming motherboards on our best gaming motherboards page. Gaming Desktop Computers – Best Gaming PC

Gaming desktop computers are built to process the huge amounts of information available while playing massive role-playing games or first-person shooters, especially while online. These games contain incredible detail and often require quick reactions. A gamer is only as good as the computer on these games, and the difference between success and failure could lie in whether a computer lags a second or two behind. Many of these computers use liquid cooling technology.

Gaming desktop computers are also built to conveniently handle all the peripheral devices that go along with those games, including ports for joysticks, steering wheels and any other devices. They are also built with more style and portability than normal computers.

Some of the cheapest gaming desktop computers are those that are built specifically by the person who will be playing them. Often a gaming PC just as powerful can be found for the same amount of money.

The other option is to purchase a specific gaming computer that has been built for that purpose. A cheap gaming desktop can be had for around $1,500, while others can run as much $8,000.

Regardless of which option is used, there are a few things the buyer should keep in mind. A fast central processing unit (CPU) will help prevent the lag that can occur during massive online role-playing games. Some of the best gaming PC units will contain dual or quad core processors for those indulging in extreme gaming experiences.

Memory is also important for successful PC gaming. A large amount of memory is necessary to allow the gaming computer to quickly access programs it uses on a regular basis. The best gaming desktop PC will have at least two gigabytes of RAM memory and could have up to eight gigabytes.

Many computer games have realistic-looking graphics, but without a high end graphics card the images will not look nearly as good as they were intended. Graphics cards often can be upgraded.

With a desktop gaming computer, the whole package is important. A fast central processing unit and lots of memory will not be enough if the graphics card is below par.

Investing in a good desktop gaming computer can mean the difference between life and death in the often realistic and complex world of online gaming.

Today, more than ever, Gaming Desktop Computers are one of the most popular products world wide.

From custom made to refurbished or store bought, finding the best gaming PC for yourself or as a gift for someone else is easy with the use of the Internet.

The Best Games in History

The history of video games is about 30 years old and during this period thousands of good games have been developed, but what are actually the best games in history? What game could you pick up right now and, regardless of your preferences, be sure that you will enjoy it?

Well, to tell you the truth, each one of us has different tastes, and as sure as I am about a couple of games that everyone likes, I bet that you will surely enjoy some games that I would not play even if you paid me. For me, the couple of games that anyone should try are Starcraft, Mafia and Freelancer. That’s it, no other gamer I can imagine that get even close to the level of quality you find in the ones I just mentioned above. Everything is perfect, from the story line, to the graphics and game play. The funny thing is that these games are 7 to 10 years old, and I still consider them to be the best ever made. I think it is a general thing, most older games are better and more fun to play than today’s games, simply because today all you get are the graphics and sound, nothing else, no innovation, no imagination in game play, average story lines and so on.

If you are just starting to see what gaming is all about, I recommend starting with games made prior to 2002. I am sure you will be able to find a couple of top tens that list the best games of all times, and you will see that most, if not all of them, were developed before 2002.

In the end, the best games in history are the ones that you enjoyed the most and that made you feel the entire experience, not just see some images moving around the screen.

How to Judge the Best Games

There has been a rising popularity in the gaming software technology, resulting to a rise in the diversity of the best games available today. Most of the most popular games can be found online, through various websites that sell them, or in gaming stores that can be found in malls nationwide. There are also a number of Flash gamesthat you can find online, specifically in websites that usually come in a variety of titles to choose from, depending on category such as Arcade, Real-time Strategy, Adventure, and Massively Multiplayer Online Games that branch out to different categories as well. Some of the best games operated by Flash can be found in various gaming websites and are sorted by category.

When judging the best games, there are a number of criteria to be considered. First category that is being judged is, of course, the concept of the game. Most top-rating games are Role-Playing Games (RPG) wherein the player assumes the role of a certain character, plays out the story according to his choices, and does the necessary actions to battle the antagonists. The more complex the concept and the strategy is, the higher the credit is given to the game.

Another category being looked at when judging the best games is the style and design. Most of the better-ranking games are situated in three-dimensional areas, making the player have an omniscient point of view. The graphics are also meticulously checked, as well as the closeness of the character’s image to the real world. The graphic material of most games is given much critique because the game’s design, look, and feel are very relevant in the player’s experience. If he thinks that the graphics are not of good quality, then he won’t be encouraged to play any longer.

Lastly, judges also look at the game’s consumer ratings. The level of difficulty is also being taken into account, so there will always be that element of challenge. If a game is simply rendered, has a basic concept, but is receiving a lot of positive consumer feedback, then it can be considered as one of the best games.

The best games out in the market right now can be found online through various gaming web sites, or in numerous magazine articles. Though the most high-ranking ones are boys’ games, it might be connected to the fact that there are more male gamers than there are female. One can acquire these games by purchasing them online, or by visiting the nearest gaming store in the mall.

Best Gaming Keyboard – How Does It Affect Your Gaming Experience and How to Choose One?

Best gaming keyboard or not, wasn’t an important factor 10 years ago. When people were still playing single player games, a simple functional keyboard would do the tricks. All those classic computer games just need a handful of keys to control the characters and finish the game. But things are different right now; the entire gaming industry is leaning towards online gaming experience. It’s all about interaction between players around the world.

Are you a fan of World of Warcraft, Starcraft II or Half Life II? Look around and see how many people are playing games online, almost every single game in the market has online combat feature. It’s fun to play games online with friends or other people from different places, especially when you are competing with them. You feel some sort of achievement when you proved yourself to be better than another real life player, just like a sport. The experience is totally different from single player game, which you will be competing against AI player only. No more game pausing or using cheat code and you will have to adapt to the pace of the game.

In order to play really well in online games, aside from the actual skill you need to master in the game itself, there is one more important factor that would affect your gaming experience, which is by getting the best gaming keyboard in your gaming arsenal.

Why exactly is the reason that you need to get the best gaming keyboard instead of a normal keyboard and how does it affect you in-game? The reason is simple – it could win or lose you a game with one or two second difference, especially in a tournament match. To control and play better than another player, you would need a lot of programmable key bindings. Sometimes the normal keyboards just don’t have enough keys for you to macro your in-game spell, skill or command. It is extremely uncomfortable when you have to mouse over the skill and click it.

It has been widely discussed that if two players were competing against each other, loser would usually be the one who clicked with a mouse instead of using programmable macro keys. Imagine while you have to actually look at the screen and find the keys to click, the other player can easily press the macro keys without searching for it, who has the advantage? I think you know the answer.

Of course, you do not want a bad online gaming experience simply because of a keyboard that doesn’t provide the proper functions you need, right? So it is really important when you are choosing one for yourself. There are several things to take note while picking the best gaming keyboard available in the market:

Programmable Keys – Check if it has enough programmable keys for you to bind and use as single key presses or complex macros.

Keys Placement – You have to make sure the keyboard is suitable for right-handed or left-handed people and placement of the programmable keys so you could always reach the keys easily without having to actually look at the keyboard and slow down your response time in-game.

Backlit – Some gaming keyboards have color backlighting for you to easily locate the keys in the dark. This would come in handy for all-nighters.

Wired or Wireless? – Never go for a wireless gaming keyboard if you are competing online. You could lose your game with slight delayed in response time that could cause by interference from other devices such as cordless phone, mobile phone or wireless router.

Anti-Ghosting – One of the important factors in winning games. Some keyboards with extreme anti-ghosting features will be able to process simultaneous key presses, hence advantage to the gamers.

Ergonomics – It is very important to make sure that the keyboard has a proper ergonomic design to prevent repetitive strain injuries. A comfortable wrist pad will help prevent carpal tunnel syndrome especially when you play games for long hours. Do not take this lightly as it could lead to long-term disability.

Warranty – Make sure you check the warranty duration, which should vary from 1 to 5 years. Keep your receipt or any proof of purchase, just in case something goes wrong with the keyboard you could ask for a refund or replacement for free within the time frame.

Other Functions – Check if it has other useful functions such as LCD panel (display gaming stats, VOIP communication data or system information), headphone jacks, USB 2.0/3.0 etc. It is not necessary but it could come in handy at times.

It seems like a lot of stuff to look out for when choosing one, but it is not. You can always find out different gaming keyboard reviews on the internet. Find out what the buyers have to say about the product they bought and used, if 9 out of 10 people saying that the product is good, the chances are it is good, they can’t be all wrong, can they?

Once you have chosen a proper gaming keyboard, I assure you, your gaming experience will totally be different and I am sure that your in-game performance would improve greatly if you were not using one before.

As a matter of fact, you can’t control the quality of your broadband service, but you can choose the best gaming keyboard to increase your winning edge. Half of the battle is won if you equipped yourself with the right gear. Remember, a gladiator can’t win in arena without a proper weapon. So I urge you, get the best, beat the best and be the best!

Best Gaming Computer: Schools of Thought

With the current advancement in the computer gaming industry, more and more people are contemplating on what are the best specifications to include in their gaming PC. After all, in a world were graphics and speed really matters, who wouldn’t want to own the best gaming PC there is.

Current computer games have placed a great demand on the computer’s hardware. These computer games demand too much as too requiring a fast central processing unit (CPU) in order to function. Initially CPU manufacturers relied on increasing clock rate to improve the performance of their processors. By the year 2005, manufacturers have begun to adapt multi-core CPU technology, which allows the computer to process multiple tasks simultaneously. This allows the computer to use more complex graphics, artificial intelligence, and in-game physics which are core elements in modern computer games.

Many 3D computer games also demand more on a powerful graphics processing unit (GPU) which is responsible for accelerating the process of drawing complex scenes in real time instances. These GPU’s can be integrated on the computer’s motherboard or come packaged with a discrete graphics card. Some modern computer games require physics processing units (PPU), which accelerates physics simulations in modern computer games. These PPUs allows the PC to process more complex interactions among objects which can’t be accommodated by the CPU.

Sound cards are also vital in a pre-dominantly 3D computer games. This hardware provides for improved and enhanced 3D audio of the game.

So what is the Best Gaming Computer then…
The idea of building the Best Gaming Computer is one that has crossed many computer gamers’ mind around the world. But when this idea also comes into play, two schools of thought come into light.

One school of thought is that the Best Gaming Computer is one that has garnered the best and powerful specifications available in the market. PC’s are constructed after a list of computer components found out to be the best gaming machines based on specifications. This is “The Best in the Market” school of thought.

On the other hand, there is also a idea that instead of building the best gaming computer based on the best specifications in the market, one should build the best gaming computer based on the user’s needs. People pursuing this school of thought construct their best gaming computer based on a list of computer components found out to be needed by the user and not what’s the best in the market. This practical school of thought is called “The Best for You” school of thought.

The “Best in the Market” School of Thought
People who are considering that big guns are the best should follow this school of thought. This school of thought believes that the best gaming computer is the one equipped with the best and latest computer component in the market.

The main advantage of this school of thought is that users are assured that they will be enjoying the fastest and best quality (in terms of graphics and speed) experience for their computer games. They can easily play graphically demanding computer games at higher resolutions without a problem.

The main disadvantage of the “Best in the Market” School of Thought is more on the financial aspect. In order to achieve such a gaming computer with the best components in its specifications could shave out thousands, or even tens of thousands, from your budget. If you want the Best then be prepared to pay the price, of course, big guns cost a lot you know.

If you still want to pursue this school of thought and you have the budget to afford such a price then you can visit several websites to check on the best computer components in the market.

The “Best for You” School of Thought
For practical gamers, this school of thought is what suits them best. This school of thought believes that the best gaming computer is one that fits the user’s needs and not the user’s wants.

The main advantage of this school of thought is that it is able to address your gaming computer needs with the less amount of money to shell-out for it. Gaming computers constructed with this in mind may not be the best or fastest there is in the market or in the world, but it is one which is easy on the user’s pocket while delivering the needed specifications to be able to function when playing modern computer games.

If you want to follow this school of thought in constructing the best gaming computer for your needs, here are some hints and questions that you must keep in mind:

1. What will I used my computer for?
2. Will I use my computer solely for gaming?
3. Or will I also use for other purpose: such as listening to music, editing pictures, watching movies, chatting with buddies, or surfing the Internet?

Consider the gaming computer you are going to buy or construct. If you are going to use it for simple tasks; it would be a waste of money to spend on high-end computer components if you really don’t need that much power for these simple tasks.

4. Do I really need that much power?
5. Is 50MHz really worth having?

Ask yourself if you really need those extra MHz or MB that a high-end computer component can provide you. For example, it is great to have a Quad-SLI machine with four nVidia 8800 Ultras powered by a Quad Core Extreme Processor. But do you really need that much power if you just want to play The Sims 2, which can adequate run on a low-cost GeForce graphics card?

For people who are advocating this school of thought, they always believe that “the hardware you are buying today might be outdated tomorrow, so why buy expensive one when it will be outdated after a few months?”

In the end, if you want to follow this school of thought always remember to ask the ultimate question:Is it worth it?

The last but not the least, Speed Racer occupies the final place of our “Games to Play with Friends.” If it’s time for the party to wrap up, this is great for those who linger—a challenge and lack of breath will tire them out! Set up a table with two racing tracks (double sided sticky tape). Place a ping-pong ball on each track and see who can get their ball to the end first, the hard part being you can only use a straw. Don’t get dizzy!

  • Have a friend that understands the rules and atmosphere of your party as backup since you may get distracted.
  • Always stand where everyone can see you and keep the attention of the group.
  • Play games that have easy props or none (no running to the store), if there is something missing, improvise!
  • Be sure to be clear on the rules and plan ahead. This will help keep everyone interacting and the games will smoothly run together.
  • If the interest of the group is lost, don’t play.
  • Be sure your teams are evenly set up and feel free to change the rules as needed. Have fun!
